FITTERFIRST WOODEN SLANT BOARD Slant boards have long been used for injury prevention and rehabilitation, reducing pain and inflammation from foot- and leg-related conditions, and stretching the lower body. Our Fitterfirst Wooden Slant Board is an effective stretching tool that is designed to target arches, calves, hamstring and hip muscles for improved range of motion, flexibility and strength. Our incline board has non-slip top and bottom surfaces, is made from 3/4” birch plywood and adjusts to three levels – 26, 38 and 42 degrees for the 11" and 14" boards and 10, 20 and 26 degrees for the 12" board – for customized stretching and exercise routines based on flexibility and ability level. When not in use, the Fitterfirst Slant Board folds flat, ideal for storage or transport. Beyond the benefits of stretching the lower body, our Fitterfirst Wooden Slant Board can be incorporated into any workout routine to help improve balance and strengthen muscles. Simply standing on the board, completing calf raises or using the board for other various exercises can enhance muscle development and responsiveness during physical activity, which is extremely beneficial for athletes. Because of the varying degrees of angle, our Fitterfirst Wooden Slant Board is also effective in reducing recovery time after exercise and may help to relieve muscle tightness, inflammation and discomfort – especially from plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendon, calves, shin splints, arches, hamstrings and hip muscles. I purchased this slant board in order to do stretches for my plantar fasciitis condition. I had previously purchased a less expensive lower angled one made of black foam. However, the black foam slant apparatus didn't have enough of an angle to it, as I'd already stretched on something higher at physical therapy and was well beyond that. Yes, there are ways you can step back on the foam one and bend more, but I wanted something with definite varying angles that would really help with these stretches. This one is perfect for doing so. I purchased the one with THREE angles because the one with five didn't go as high as the one with 3 and I figured three good positions was enough to do the job - with the highest angle to aim for over time. And, I was right. Even the lowest angle beats the foam board angle and I can really feel the stretch. It will stretch your calf with your leg straight and your achilles tendon with your leg slightly bent. Both connect to the plantar fascia muscle and are important stretches to do for this condition. It is VERY sturdy and well made construction. It also had a rubber bottom to prevent slippage on a wood floor and that works well. Also, the essential, non-slip layer on the top allows you to use it even in your slippers! Although it is rather expensive, since I've had this condition for months now, I have no regrets in this important investment to my quality of life! I use it daily now and feel it's giving me the stretch I need in order to heal this plantar fasciitis problem. I highly recommend it to anyone suffering from plantar fasciitis. This incline board is well made and appears quite strong, but is very expensive for what it is. It has skateboard style friction grip tape on top, and a large circle of soft rubberized non-skid on the bottom. It is well sized, certainly more than adequate for my men's size 11 running shoes, and I'd say 13 or even 14's wouldn't be a problem. It folds to about 1 1/2 inches, but mine seems to have been assembled slightly incorrect because the strut hinges interfere with complete flat closing. Maybe that's the way it's designed, but I doubt it. There are three strut settings designed to provide inclines of 26, 38, and 42 degrees. Everyone is different, but for me 42 is way extreme, 38 is still too much, and 26 is almost not enough, but that's the setting I use currently. It seems easy enough to unscrew the strut from the hinge and shorten it rthereby educing the angle of each setting if I decide I want to modify it later. I suspect somewhere around 32 degrees is ideal for me right now, but that could change as my flexibility changes. In retrospect, I wish I had bought the wider version, which my sister owns. Despite the fact that a wear a women's size 5 shoe and am about 140 pounds, I find the wider version more comfortable and versatile. I suspect many other people would feel the same. That said, this is a very sturdy slant board and gives me an excellent stretch.Even the least vertical position of this board is quite steep, so if your calf muscles, achilles tendons, or ankles are very tight, or if you are recovering from injury, you may want to start with a foam slant board and work up to this unit. On the other hand, if you've only been using a foam board, you should consider moving up to a steeper incline; you'll notice a big difference in flexibility.I picked this slant board because it had a smaller footprint than most, and also because it can fold up flat to put away. I'm very happy with it. It is comfortable to stretch my calf, which is what I bought it for. Some reviewers complained theirs was not assembled quite right, but mine is. It is only rated to 250 lbs, but it feels very solid when I step on it with my 190 lbs. It only has three angles, but they are a good range for my needs.Update: It's still working great more than a year later. I use it every morning. And the small size fits in a standard carry-on suitcase when it's folded. So I take it with my when I travel.I got the FitterFirst 14” slant board because I had an extremely Achilles’ tendon that kept me from dorsiflexing my ankle when walking. I stretched the Achilles’ tendon with the use of the slant board. The board could easily support my 250#’s. The board is a good deal!OVERALLI am happy I bought this slant board for stretching. It works well and looks good and strong. Would recommend to family to buy it also. However,Two issues1. Placement of slots / hinges are such that the product does not fit well into all three slot levels (someone did not assemble product correctly or the design is off by 1/4 to 1/2 " inch and places high stress on the hinges in the lowest setting)2. Recommend weight limit is only found after you buy the product and read it in the fine print. ( 250 lbs is recommended maximum use weight )See my images for more information and product detailAGAIN I would buy again and recommend to family ... but the two issues keep me to 4 stars ratingThis is the best thing ever! I have an elbow macaroni shaped calf stretcher too but this is way better. I have had knee surgery and still have residual pain as well as collapsing arches and this thing has been a god send. Any time my arches start to spasm I just use this and the issue goes away. If not I wont be able to sleep at night due to charley horse in my arch. It also helps my knee to not get so stiff. This is my most used gym item and completely worth the money. I think it is well made and feels durable. It also collapses up for easy storage. No assembly. This unit has the widest range of incline that I found for items like this. This is also the small unit that my Physical Therapists had me use to recover after surgery. We use this all day in the gym. It's super high quality and worth every pennyI love it.très bon produit, solide et durable,Too slanted. It needs a lower setting. Waste of money.
