My husband is in the Navy and is currently attached to a fast attack submarine out of Pearl Harbor. My son LOVES this book because it tells you about where his daddy works and a few different parts of a submarine. He's been in his dads submarine so he can recognize areas and parts of a submarine. They are real pictures, not drawings like most books. For example one of the pages has a picture of a sailor topside and you can see part of the "USS Portsmouth" on his cover(hat). Seeing pictures of submarines and sailors aboard the submarine makes my son feel a little better when he's missing his dad while deployed and underway.The only negative thing about the book is the entire thing is based off of Navy Submarines, but then there is one random page with a yellow submarine with windows. If they wanted it to just be about Navy submarines I'm not sure why they put that in there. Its just random and confuses kids. My son always points it out and says "that's not the right kind of submarine"....other than that its a great book and great quality!
